This lesson was delivered to my  ESO Grade 3 Class

I segmented my Say Bye to Bullying lesson into several parts:

Warm-up: I began by asking students whether they knew what bullying was and shared their ideas on the board. This activity helped to stimulate initial thoughts from my students and to prepare them for the rest of the session.

Following on from the warm-up exercise, I then introduced my animated video. I created this video using various tools and used my voice as the narrator.

I  followed my animation with a presentation which allowed me to delve deeper into the topic and to discuss bullying in more detail. The presentation details the four main types of bullying and the potential consequences of this type of behaviour. My presentation, created using Canva, also includes practical advice on how to stop or prevent bullying, with dynamic imagery and thought-provoking information. Throughout the presentation, I interacted with the class to retain interest and to ensure that students understood the information.

The final stage of my lesson involved a bullying scenario activity sheet where I asked students to work n pairs. My activities saw students identifying and finding resolutions to different forms of bullying. My activity sheet also contributed to further classroom discussions. For homework. students were asked to write an anti-bullying pledge. I  explained that a pledge is like a promise and that they should write a paragraph describing what they will do to prevent bullying. They were told that the pledge could be related to preventing bullying, intervening if they see bullying taking place or safeguarding (protecting themselves). The homework allowed me and the teacher to gain greater insight into our student's comprehension level. It was also an opportunity for us to provide individual feedback.

During the lesson, the teacher played a vital role in supporting the ideas I presented and providing additional clarity to our students. Furthermore, my lesson plan is also supported by other activities enabling the teacher to continue and strengthen the topic in further lessons.  â€‹My combination of learning methods allowed students to interact in different ways and to fully engage with the style of learning that complemented their capabilities.

By the end of the projects, students could identify different types of bullying, understand the implications of this behaviour and find solutions. The project also allowed students to build their self-awareness, develop their confidence and to reflect on their behaviour. Students had also developed key transferable English skills that will assist them in their language studies.
