My Philosophy

Engage, encourage and inspire
At the forefront of my philosophy is engagement and encouragement. Observing how students respond to different activities and methods of teaching has given me an insight into how my classes should be structured and delivered. Also having the ability to be flexible, even during a lesson, means that I can seamlessly adapt the lesson depending on how my students are responding. I aim to present lessons dynamically and creatively, where students are excited to learn, practice and grow in their English acquisition.
Confidence building and trust - recognising and supporting the needs of my students
I understand that every student learns and absorbs information differently - this is especially true with learning a new language. My emphasis is on delivering lessons that can stimulate each student collectively, as well as individually. My method for doing this is to incorporate different learning techniques in each lesson, adopting repetition methods and encouraging students to support each other.
Inclusion - individual feedback and praise
Not only is whole-class activities and interaction important, but providing one to one support is also crucial. This is especially beneficial for students who are shy or have less confidence speaking in front of the entire class. Creating opportunities where I can support students individually, while providing feedback or praise, helps to increase the confidence of students - ensuring we have inclusion.
Assessment - reading, speaking, listening, and writing
Assessing students in both a formal and informal way provides us with an excellent opportunity to gain clarity. This insight is especially true for my BACH students who spent most of the academic year preparing for their final exams. Recognising students strengths and weaknesses gives us, the educators, the insight needed to structure our classes accordingly.
In conclusion, I believe that it is important that students enjoy the process of learning, whether from feeling encouraged by their advancements, or the challenges highlighted during their learning process - there are always opportunities to grow and develop.
