INTERACTIVE PRESENTATIONS

My lessons often begin with an interactive presentation - an opportunity to introduce a topic or idea, teach new language skills and interact with the students. Students have the opportunity to engage.

GAMES & ACTIVITIES

Games and activities are often incorporated into my lesson plans. Games I've played include Bingo, Taboo, Charades and singing contests. Playing games help to create a fun, active and competitive environment which enable students to develop their language skills.

 PROJECTS & SPECIAL EVENTS

During my time as an Auxiliar de Conversación, I've had the opportunity to co-ordinate various educational projects and to engage students with classes based on special celebrations or cultural events.

ACADEMIC TEACHING

While students follow an academic syllabus, I have had the opportunity to provide additional guidance, teaching and explanation. This is especially true in relation to my BACH students.

PROJECT: SAY BYE TO BULLYING

For my final project submission, I decided to structure it around the topic of bullying awareness. I choose this topic as I believe it to be a serious and important subject that addresses critical issues. It is also an opportunity for students to learn and practice new English vocabulary while developing their communication skills. The project consists of several resources, including this short introductory animation. You can find out more about this project here

PRESENTATION: HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES
Students learned about the origins of Halloween and were able to participate in the celebration with fun games and activities. Following on from this interactive presentation, I facilitated several Halloween related games, including Halloween Bingo which helped to develop the student's vocabulary and pronunciation in a fun way.

VIDEO: CHRISTMAS DAY VLOG
A short video montage of how I celebrated Christmas Day back in London. Not only were students able to see how I celebrated Christmas, but my vlog also provided a gateway to broader conversations.  Following the video, students were encouraged to reflect on their own Christmas memories, while we also compared the festivities in Spain and the UK.

BACH ORAL PROJECT: RENTING YOUR FIRST HOME
For this project, I introduced students to the concept of renting their first home. This practical project began with a short presentation which introduced different renting options. Over the next few sessions, I added several considerations related to renting, with a hand-out to accompany each session. The project was assessed in two ways. The first part of our assessment consisted of  a written test, while the second part, saw our students participate in a role-play.  The project can be viewed via this Zip File

VARIATIONS IN UK & USA: VOCABULARY
During the first term, we spent two lessons looking at some of the changes in vocabulary across different English speaking countries. As part of this project,  I scripted and recorded a short audio role-play with Greg, the other
Auxiliar de Conversación .   Our short role-play allowed us to demonstrate that although there are some variations in vocabulary, we can still understand one another. This project was a unique opportunity for students to acquire and understand new vocabulary.  You can view my presentation that supports this project here.
