My year as an Auxiliar de Conversación in Madrid:
An exceptional opportunity.  

Hi, my name is Chantelle Thompson and I was born and raised in London, UK.

In 2019, I became an Auxiliar de Conversación (language assistant) in Madrid, an experience that has quickly become a highlight of my career and life. My decision to become an Auxiliar de Conversación came following a chance encounter with a fellow traveller during a trip to Portugal 2019. The traveller, with whom I became friends with, was already an Auxiliar de Conversación and her experience had inspired me. With a love for knowledge sharing, communication and assisting others with the pursuit of their goals - the prospect of becoming an Auxiliar de Conversación and developing a career in education became very appealing to me.

My aim as an Auxiliar de Conversación is to inspire students to feel comfortable learning, using and practicing a new language. I believe communication is an art form and the way we teach language can be just as creative. My aim is to help my students incorporate the process of learning a language into their way of life and to foster a heuristic learning experience.
